Elbow Dysplasia
Most large dog owners have heard about hip dysplasia, but did you know that they can also get elbow dysplasia? This occurs when the elbow joint malforms and movement leads to wear and tear as well as inflammation and arthritis. Veterinarians believe that elbow dysplasia is because of genetics, as well as unnaturally rapid growth in a large breed dog. Nutrition can help control growth spurts so talk with your vet if you have a large dog like a Great Dane.
