How many times have you been browsing through the latest dog accessory catalogue and run across some dog beds that you think your dog would love? And then you look at the price. If you’re in the market for a good dog bed but you don’t want to spend an entire paycheck to do it, here are some suggestions.
Things to Think About First
Before you run out and buy a dog bed, however, keep in mind what type of sleeper your dog is. If she falls asleep on her back — in the middle of your bed — you may want to think about getting her a bolster bed (a bed that has bumpers) where she can lean up against one side and stay on her back easily. Does your dog prefer to be nested? If so, get the traditional oval bowl shape. If your dog is having some orthopedic issues, you can get a memory foam bed for a reasonable price. And don’t forget a travel bed. If you do a lot of traveling with your dog, bringing her bed will make her feel right at home and she’ll settle in more quickly.
Where to buy:
Believe it or not, Wal-Mart has some great values when it comes to dog beds, including some with memory foam that won’t break your bank.
Soft Spot Rectangle Cuddler – You can get this bed for a small dog for less than $6.00.
PAW Memory Foam Dog Bed with Removable Cover – This orthopedic bed is every bit as good as the expensive brands and you can get it for prices that range from $28.00 to $58.00.
Coolaroo Elevated Pet Bed with Breathable Fabric – Perfect for the outside to get your dog up off a wet or chilly surface. These elevated beds run anywhere from $27.00 to $36.00.
