The Best Dog Friendly Beaches To Visit This Summer

There’s just something about dogs and water that makes us all happy. Maybe it’s their natural abandon – the kind of thing we wish we had more of – that is so joyful. Beaches, tennis balls, Frisbees and fun spell a great summer with your fave canine. That’s why we’ve rounded up the best dog friendly beaches to visit this summer.

South Carolina

There’s a great state park in South Carolina that will give you everything you’re looking for in a beach community. Hunting Island State Park is located in the Beaufort/Parris Island area and if you love to camp, there are park grounds for that as well as beaches and hiking trails. For those who prefer to make reservations rather than pitch a tent, check out the Days Inn.

Florida

Are you hankering for some beach time in the Sunshine State? There’s a designated dog beach in Fort De Soto Park, Florida where you and your pooch can run off leash. This is all part of something called the Paw Playground which also has fenced in areas for play besides the beach and they separate the large dogs from the smaller guys.

California

The Arroyo Burro Beach in Santa Barbara is fabulous! About one and a half miles of beach, your dog must be on lead until crossing the slough. Then they can romp free.

North Carolina

We love both Nags Head and the southern beaches of Oak Island in the Tarheel State. Nags Head has long been a haven for dog friendly beaches with so many vacationing families coming down each year.

Oak Island has 65 areas where the public can get on the beach and play with their pups. And these access points have doggie cleanup bags and trash cans available to keep everything neat and tidy. Dogs can be off lead under the tide line but make sure to have that leash with you because beach patrol checks often.

Illinois

If you live in the Chicagoland area, check out Montrose Dog Beach. This beach has the honor of being the first off-leash dog beach near Chicago.

Don’t leave your four footed buddy at home while you check out the waves. Check out one of these dog friendly beaches! For more great post, click the links below!
