With Thanksgiving coming up, we think it’s important to get our pets in on the celebrations. Of course, there are many foods that dogs and cats can’t enjoy that us humans can. However, the ASPCA has a great pet recipe for pumpkin pie cookies that you can make for your pets this holiday season.
You’ll need: rice flour, oatmeal, canned pumpkin, carrots, unsweetened plain applesauce and flour. Once you have your ingredients you’ll blend the carrots, applesauce and pumpkin. Then, mix flour and oatmeal in a bowl together. Next, mix the wet ingredients with the dry until a dough forms. Finally, roll out the dough and use little cookie cutters to section out each treat. Bake the cookies at 350 degrees for roughly seven minutes. Of course, once they are done, be sure to wait until they are completely cool before letting your pets enjoy them.
It’s important to note that you should always check with your veterinarian before introducing new foods into your pet’s diet. It’s also important to remember that these snacks should not replace any of your pet’s meals. After all, while we would all love to eat cookies all day long, it’s not good for us, and it’s certainly not good for your pup or kitty!
