Today is a day that has every American reflecting on 14 years ago when terror attacks were launched on the United States. These attacks made the date 9/11 a mournful one. That’s why, it’s so nice to see something happy in the news today.
A few days ago, Barkbox celebrated Bretagne (pronounced Brittney), the last known living dog who was part of the 9/11 search and rescue team at the World Trade Center. Bretagne is turning 16 this year, and because of her bravery, strength and overall awesomeness as a dog, was given a day filled with doggy fun in New York City.
The day started with a bunch of treats at the hotel, followed by dog park fun (where she was given the bone to the dog park, similar to receiving the key to the city), and a huge party filled with cake and gifts.
Full disclosure, I’m currently crying as I write this because the video is so sweet, especially on a day like today.
In 2001, Bretagne was part of the national disaster group Texas Task Force 1, which was flown in to help with finding and saving people after the World Trade Center disaster.
So, the next time you ever hear anyone say dogs are dumb, be sure to show them the video below. We bet it will change their minds.
