Easter is right around the corner, and while it’s definitely one of the more fun holidays for families, with the Easter Egg hunts and goodie baskets. However, it’s one of the more dangerous holidays for cats and dogs.
While there are less dangers than during Christmas and Thanksgiving, Easter is famous for one very big thing that can seriously hurt your pet: chocolate. On top of the possibility of your pet getting into a basket filled with chocolate and other sugar candy, stuffed animals are also dangerous due to small parts that could cause your pet to choke.
There are also other, less obvious, things that could be toxic to your cat or dog. For example the classic plastic grass that many people use to stuff basket. This shiny string can also cause your pet to choke. Another Easter decoration that can be deadly? Easter Lilies.
According the ASPCA, the Easier Lily plant is highly toxic to cats. Symptoms of toxicity include vomiting, lethargy and kidney failure.
It’s important to remember to keep these Easter classics away from your pets this season. We suggest, if you have a cat, to not even keep Easter Lilies, or any type of lily in your house. It’s definitely better to be safe than sorry.
